Educomp Reviews: Say No to Educomp! Poor Content, Worst Service & Highly Unprofessional!
We had an agreement with Educomp in Nov 2012 for 5 years, which ended on Nov 2017. It was executed in March 2012, We had 5 Smart class solution, Each month we were supposed to pay 32,000 Rs (1) for Hardware (2) for contents (3) Maintenance service
It was a big mistake we made during start of our school and we and our student suffered a lot because of Educomp.
Let me explain, why I am calling “Poor Content, Worst Service & Highly Unprofessional!”
It started with false commitment by Educomp representative Mr Rahul Jain (Who left Educomp within months and never get back to us after agreement). What he did was, during presentation he shared pre-decided video tutorials and teaching material. When asked about other contents, he used to say —
Educomp has 2000GB of teaching materials, it will take years if I start showing teaching materials one by one!
He didn’t informed that tutorials and contents were not prepared by Educomp itself.
When we started using these contents, we found that all the teaching materials were collected from various sources, most of these tutorials were prepared by foreign companies with Non-Indian ascent. You cannot expect your child to learn with foreign ascent video tutorials. And this was the first time, we found ourselves cheated by Educomp. Somehow, we managed to use only Indian ascent video tutorials and believe me, it was only 10–15% of contents which were useful. Forget about 2000GB (May be they are quoting now 10000GB of video tutorials), the only thing which matter is Good Quality Video Tutorial with Indian Ascent for Indian School.
Again the promise was to provide service at school within 24 hours to 48 hours. We were quiet impressed with this service policy at the time of agreement.
It didn’t take too long to realize us about their services. As Mr Rahul Jain already left the company before the agreement started and we didn’t even had contact number of a single person of Educomp. The only point of contact was email, so we sent first email to Educomp as below:
This is how the agreement started. This email was never replied. There will be 100s of emails till the end of agreement which we sent to Educomp but they were not replied.
Here are some more emails reflecting their services:
We faced hardware issues, license issues and they were not able to provide the services as per their promises. There were no customer care number that you can call in the absence of their representatives. There were no alternate email that you can reach if you don’t get support and services. You had to depend on their representatives everytime.
I bet everyone, to call on Educomp phone number given in their website, no one will be available to attend the call. This is what I have experienced during the entire agreement period.
Listing below the Educomp representatives with whom we dealt during agreement period:
- Mr Rahul Jain (March 2012 to June 2012)
- Mr Ashusotsh Sen (Nov 2012 to Dec 2012)
- Ms Varsha Shrivastava (Apr 2013 to Dec 2013)
- Mr Suresh Soni (May 2013 to Sep 2013 — Only employee who informed us before leaving Educomp)
- Mr Jaspal Suri (July 2014 to Sep 2015)
- Mr Saurabh (Jan 2016 to Feb 2016)
- Mr Anubhav Mahule (May 2017 to till date)
Isn’t it strange to dealt with these many employees during a single agreement period?
During 5 years of agreement, there employee changed frequently and except Mr Suresh Soni, no one was professional. Everyone left the company without informing us.
Mr Anubhav Mahule, who is currently Educomp representative for our school, scheduled meeting 3 times, didn’t attend a single meeting stating personal reason. This was highly unacceptable if you are paying huge amount to a company for service.
We stopped using their services in April 2015 and moved to next Smart Class vendor.
Till June 2016, there were no communication by Educomp. Suddenly they came with a demand letter of payment without providing us services and contents. We stopped payment because of above reason and asked them to uninstall the hardware and discontinue the services as below email:
They went on silent mode for another 8 months. No one from Educomp, communicated with us, they bounced back with demand letter and this time it was from their lawyer. This letter includes:
The company provided services to the full satisfaction of the school.
How can a company be so arrogant that despite fail to provide services as promised, demanding further payment?
They came back with Arbitration Letter, I personally visited New Delhi for arbitration. I was surprised, there were 18 more schools who were called on same day (1st Aug 2017) for arbitration as every school has stopped payment due to poor service of Educomp. The arbitrator called me for 5 mins talk, asked me to appear on next month! It was like a joke, because schools all over from India (From Kolkata to Gujarat) came for arbitration and that arbitrator was giving a date for further discussion. Every school was so disappointed and decided not to come again for arbitration. I also did the same.
As a school, we suffered a lot by Educomp, our students didn’t get teaching materials which is the right of the students. We faced many complaints from parents regarding Smart class and were not able to solve them because Educomp didn’t resolve our issues.
I don’t want any other school to face similar issues . I am just writing this story to warn schools who are looking for new Smart Class vendor to go through company portfolio, their reviews against promises, services and contents then only proceed for any long term agreement.
Now, We are looking to file a complaint in consumer forum because we have already paid them around 8,90,000 INR but never got the services as promised. We are also looking some legal aspect with our advocate to file a case in court to get refund of access payment.
